February 3, 2017
Jade encouraged me to do InCoWriMo (International Correspondence Writing Month) this year – where you write a letter each day for the month of February. I’d never heard of it, but thought it was a great idea. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather write to on this special day, celebrating the gift of your life to the world. February 3rd may be the day the music died, but it’s also the day a truly inspirational woman was born.
The world is a better place because of you. You are grace and elegance personified. Your integrity is beyond question and your moral compass unwavering. You have brought about profound progress in your quiet yet forceful way, never seeking kudos or recognition or personal accolades. You have advanced the cause for women, always encouraging and promoting women to shatter glass ceilings in countless ways, never concerned about whether you are the beneficiary so long as you can help others achieve the goal. You have worked tirelessly to improve education for our youth, transportation for ‘Toronto the Good’, and mental health for all.
You serve as a powerful role model for women of all ages. Your grace and positivity in the face of personal adversity was no exception. You light up rooms when you enter with the sheer force of your upbeat affirming energy.
You are a great mother, sister, wife, daughter and friend. I will be eternally grateful for the fortune of having met you and including myself in the latter category.
Hope you enjoyed your special day.
